GIT-CAPTM (Us Patent No. 7,352,179; 6,415,649; 6,178,807)

Green Imaging Technologies’ GIT-CAPTM software package is an add-on to the base GIT software (LithoMetrix). The package includes the NMR activations to directly measure saturation in one-dimension and then process that data into capillary pressure, dramatically decreasing measurement time while increasing accuracy. Additional processing tools allow the capillary pressure data to be converted into pore throat size or relative permeability.

NEW FEATURES

Scan Automation - allows users to run queues (Scan Cards) to acquire and process data at the touch of a button

GIT-CAPTM CAPILLARY PRESSURE

Advanced Simulation and Modeling Tools

QUICK-CAPTM

QUICK-CAP parameterizes the measured GIT-CAP capillary pressure (Pc) curve into standard Pc models. Several different minimization functions and Pc models are provided such as Brooks-Corey, van Genuchten, and Thomeer. An extension to the Brooks-Corey model allows for modeling of the spontaneous imbibition curve (and spontaneous drainage) when positive and negative pressures are measured with GIT-CAP.

PORE THROAT
DISTRIBUTION

The GIT-CAP process generates a significant number of data points allowing for the calculation of saturation changes at many different pressures. Converting pressure to radius and plotting it against the saturation can yield a pore throat size distribution (reverse of mercury injection) allowing the computation of an NMR relaxivity parameter. This can then be utilized to convertT2 distributions into quantifiable pore size distributions and to compute capillary pressure from NMR well logs.

RELATIVE PERMEABILITY
The correct modeling of reservoir fluid flow is crucial to achieving production success; yet obtaining reliable relative permeability data can be difficult and expensive. Further, this data is often used to model capillary pressure curves. GIT-CAP’s relative permeability measurement reverses this procedure and provides detailed relative permeability data quickly from NMR capillary pressure curves.

QUICK-CAPTM
The QUICK-CAP software module works in cooperation with the GIT-CAP acquired data. QUICK-CAP uses the water saturation distribution data from one or more centrifuge equilibrium speeds to model the complete capillary pressure curve. Several models and error functions are available to find the best fit for the curve, including both Brooks-Corey and van Genuchten.

POROSITY PROFILE
GIT-CAP uses the NMR instrument to “see” fluids inside the core plug. By directly measuring these fluids, the software can calculate a porosity profile of the plug. This is in contrast to a traditional bulk porosity measurement, which may mask small-scale heterogeneity in the rock. This can be used to visualize flow fronts or imbibition processes.
